Bandwidth, the amount of data communication or the amount of data transfer is what allows your site to deliver its appearance to your viewers. If I upload a 5 MB video to Youtube, every time someone plays that video, 5 MB of data are being transferred. Thus, if Youtube has an allowance of 100 MB/month of bandwidth, after one person views the video their allowed bandwidth for that month reduces to 95 MB.

Bandwidth is typically measured per month. Most hosting companies refresh "the bandwidth meter" monthly. However, do not be fooled, before committing yourself to a lease make sure you're being allocated enough bandwidth for your site.
